About the event
Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, the day when the last slaves in Texas were liberated, over two years after President Lincoln abolished slavery. It wasn't recognized as a federal holiday until 2021 and became a paid state holiday in Rhode Island only this year (2024). Juneteenth festivities have a rich tradition in the United States.
This indoor festival will occur regardless of the weather and is designed to highlight businesses that offer foods and culture from the African Diaspora. Come and show your support for Caribbean soul!
