Order your Soup Joumou for New Years!
Soup Joumou
Soup Joumou is a traditional Haitian Soup made with kabocha squash. During slavery, Haitians were forbidden from eating it. In 1804 Haiti became the first free black nation and the first country in the Western hemisphere to abolish slavery. To this day, Haitians honor that victory and their independence every January 1st by preparing and sharing Soup Joumou- a symbol of freedom, resilience, and pride.
